These Terms & Conditions govern your use of the Cryptic Room website and your booking of any escape room, online game, kids’ birthday party, corporate event, or gift certificate with Cryptic Room, based in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal. By booking with us, you agree to these terms.
All bookings are made through our website and paid in full at the time of booking, in euros (€). Prices are shown per session and scale with the number of players. Online game access is granted immediately after payment is confirmed.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled start time for a briefing; late arrival may result in a shortened session. Most rooms are suitable for players aged 12 and over; family-friendly rooms and kids’ birthday packages allow younger players when accompanied by an adult. Age guidance is shown on each room’s page.
You may cancel or reschedule your booking free of charge more than 24 hours before your scheduled start time. Cancellations made closer to the start time receive a reduced refund, and no-shows are not refunded. To cancel or reschedule, contact us or use your account’s booking management page.
Gift certificates are sold in any denomination and are valid for one year from the date of purchase. They can be redeemed against any experience we offer, in person or online, and can be combined with a separate payment if the certificate does not cover the full price. Gift certificates are non-refundable but may be transferred to another person.
Corporate bookings, tournaments, and large group events are arranged individually with a dedicated event manager. Specific terms, deposits, and cancellation windows for corporate packages will be confirmed in writing at the time of booking.
Our escape rooms use theatrical effects, low lighting, and enclosed spaces, but no genuine physical restraint. Rooms can be exited at any time. Players participate at their own risk and must follow the safety instructions given by our host. We reserve the right to end a session early in case of unsafe behaviour, without a refund.
To the extent permitted by Portuguese law, Cryptic Room is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your booking. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded under Portuguese consumer protection law.
Under EU consumer protection rules for distance contracts, bookings for a specific date and time are exempt from the standard 14-day right of withdrawal, as they qualify as leisure services to be performed on a specific date. Our own cancellation policy in Section 4 applies instead.
We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. The version in force is the one published on this page at the time of your booking.
These terms are governed by Portuguese law. Any dispute will first be addressed directly with our team; if unresolved, you may also refer the matter to a Portuguese consumer arbitration centre or the competent courts of Portugal.
