A lot of escape room companies license a puzzle kit and set it up in a rented space. We don’t — every one of our rooms is designed and built by our own team, from the story to the last lock.
What that actually means
Each room starts as a concept: a story, a setting, a reason the player is there. From that, our team designs the physical set, builds the props, and writes every puzzle so it fits the story instead of feeling bolted on. Then it gets tested, repeatedly, by people who’ve never seen it before we open it to the public.
Why we bother
Licensed kits are faster and cheaper to install, but they show up in dozens of other venues with the same puzzles in the same order. Building in-house takes longer and costs more, but it means the room you’re playing exists nowhere else.
Where we are now
Right now that’s three original rooms, in the horror and thriller genres, with more in development. We’ve also built online versions of a couple of our games, so people who can’t make it to Madeira in person can still play from a browser.
